NPower Charlotte Region Announces New Executive Director

October 16, 2008

Chris Meade has been promoted to Executive Director at NPower Charlotte Region, Inc. a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits leverage technology to increase the power to care. "Ever since helping the American Leadership Forum develop the business case for NPower Charlotte Region in 2003, I have been a huge believer in the difference we can make in nonprofits in our region," says Meade. "I am flattered that the board of directors has expressed this vote of confidence in me and am excited to have the opportunity to lead NPower Charlotte Region as we continue to expand our offerings for the community."
Dow Bauknight, who has held the position of Executive Director since 2004, will assist with an orderly transition by assuming the role of Executive Emeritus. "NPower has made an incredible difference in the community of nonprofits in the Charlotte Region, and Chris will do a superb job as its new leader," says Bauknight.

Mr. Meade has served NPower in a variety of positions, including Director of Technology and, most recently, Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Meade's ascendancy to Executive Director is the result of over five years of successful business start-up activities and a thoughtful succession plan that will build upon Mr. Bauknight's foundation.

Prior to joining NPower Charlotte Region, Mr. Meade held positions with American Management Systems, Oracle, and Lockheed Martin. He received his BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia and MS from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management.

"NPower Charlotte Region makes a positive impact in our community by improving the performance of nonprofits, having served more than 60 agencies through 120 technology projects. Our success is the result of the tremendous support NPower receives from the technology community," says Meade.
