When The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art began thinking about their technology needs, NPower truly had a blank canvas on which to paint a picture of the ideal technology plan. The museum's building was just under construction, employees needed to be hired, art was yet to be hung and installed, and Charlotte's art lovers had only a small inkling of how dynamic and influential the Bechtler art collection would be. Very rarely do NPower consultants have the opportunity to work with a new institution from the ground up when creating and implementing a technology plan. NPower had this exciting opportunity with Bechtler, which posed unique challenges and advantages during the technology planning process.
Through technology planning, NPower assessed what types of technology Bechtler needed prior to their January 2, 2010 museum opening and beyond. Ultimately, NPower's plan enabled Bechtler to operate efficiently and effectively as one of the premier modern art museums in the southeast showcasing important and influential artists of the mid 20th century. NPower worked closely with Bechtler to understand how technology could help them accomplish their mission and bring this important cultural experience to the Charlotte community.
