Middle School Matters
Through the innovative program Middle School Matters, launched by Partners in Out-of-School Time, NPower Charlotte Region is directly in touch with the future - children.
Challenge
The program, a joint partnership between Partners in Out-of-School Time, Athletes United for Youth, Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, Citizens Schools, and NPower Charlotte Region, is a network of afterschool programs which focus on helping children develop 21st century skills.
Solution
NPower Charlotte Region is developed and delivered a technology curriculum that teaches students how to use technology to analyze and solve problems. The curriculum also introduces students to social networking and Web 2.0 technologies.
Impact
NPower Charlotte Region piloted the technology curriculum at Quail Hollow Middle School, with plans to roll out the curriculum to three additional schools in Fall 2008. Middle School Matters targets expansion to the remaining 29 schools by 2010.
